A work is currently being shown against the beautiful backdrop of Erfurt Cathedral Hill that addresses man's search for meaning and a successful life. Berlioz's Faust also awakens to new life with the springtime nature, until a warlike scene causes him to fall from his exuberance into depression. Only an Easter chorale transforms his sadness into joyful anticipation and makes him ready for Mephistopheles' offer to show him the "true world".

Ben Baur, the director and set designer of this year's production at the DomStufen Festival 2023 - Faust's Damnation - answers questions from Niklas Wagner, the director of the Catholic Forum in Thuringia.
