DOMINO – DomStufen-Festpiele for Children 2011 (2009)

In the summer of 2009, the DOMINO - DomStufen-Festspiele for Children was launched, transforming the festival stages into a daytime stage. The Bremen Town Musicians provided an impressive launch for this idea, as the animal community of fate enjoys great sympathy with the audience. Therefore, in the summer of 2011, the donkey, dog, cat, and rooster will take to the festival stage again. Through their solidarity, they defeat the supposedly stronger ones.

Growing old and rejected by humanity, the four encourage each other to still make something of their lives. In the spirit of friendship and art, they want to go to Bremen to become musicians. But they don't have to go that far in 2011: They once again find an excellent stage on the steps of Erfurt Cathedral.

The four animals are portrayed by opera singers, and their music is far from "cat-smacking"; instead, it brings arias by Mozart, Rossini, and Offenbach, among others, to the audience in an entertaining way, supported by a small orchestra. The robber actors try to counter this with rapping. The poetic text was written by Wiesbaden author Jutta Schubert based on the work by the Brothers Grimm. An entertaining piece for the whole family.
