Preparations on the Domstufen are in full swing
To ensure that rehearsals for the DomStufen-Festspiele could begin on time today at the Domplatz, more than 70 colleagues accomplished a remarkable feat last week. They assembled the stage set, which features a 16-meter-tall Eiffel Tower, a 22-meter-long slide, Café Momus, an artist’s apartment, over 1,200 lights, and 40 containers that house technology, costumes, and makeup. They also built the grandstand that seats more than 2,100 guests. Every move had to be precise, and the schedule had to be followed down to the minute to ensure that everything would be in place within just six days. On Friday, TÜV Thüringen inspected the three-lane slide — naturally, they took a test ride, too. Aside from a few minor touch-ups at the transitions, the slide passed inspection, meaning rehearsals can now begin without delay.
For opera enthusiasts — and those who want to become one — there will be an introductory event about Puccini’s masterpiece La Bohème at Theater Erfurt on July 30, 2025, at 7.30 p.m. Attendees will gain fascinating insights into the music, impressive staging, and intellectual and cultural background of the work. Entry is free.
